Week 102
This is my last weekly email here on the mission. I've learned so much serving the Lord, and I want to keep learning more about Him and becoming more like Him for the rest of my life. I'm about to start a new part of my life, and I'm both scared and excited, but I feel prepared.
MONDAY was pretty fun with us playing a ton of different sports and other activities, as well as doing a bunch of transfer journal signing.
TUESDAY was a weird day because our zone leadership thought it would be a good idea to do whitewash zone-wide exchanges with everyone. I was put into a full Spanish area with an Elder who had just started learning Spanish. It was a weird day with a bunch of random stuff happening, including a missionary who served in that area previously calling us while in the middle of a lesson with a recent convert he had just baptized a couple of days ago.
WEDNESDAY we ended the zone-wide exchanges with a big brunch with everyone in the zone. I also had green chili enchiladas that night for dinner, which reminded me of the start of my mission because it was the first dinner I had in-field.
THURSDAY was really hot out. We also had a bunch of service that morning, but thankfully we got it all done before it got too hot outside.
FRIDAY was fun because we had housing inspections at 11... at least we thought they were at 11. When the senior missionaries showed up at 9 to do the inspections, we were all pretty surprised and unprepared. But it was all good, and we got a good laugh out of it.
SATURDAY I went around to a couple of different members and said my goodbyes. I enjoyed serving here and being able to work with them. I also got to do some more service at a member's house, taking care of some odds and ends, which led to us finding this species of endangered toads called Horny Toads. I also started packing and getting rid of old clothes and stuff I didn't want to bring home.
SUNDAY I said some goodbyes at church and then just spent the majority of the day preparing to go home. I also got to give Elder Burnett a buzz cut that night at the senior missionaries’ house. It was a ton of fun, and I'm glad that was one of the last things I got to do as a missionary.
Monday and Tuesday are just departing missionary activities and the actual flight, so I won't write about them, but I've loved my mission so much. I've had my hard moments and my great moments, but each and every one of them I'm grateful to God for. They have helped me become who I need to be, and I am going to use what I've learned to become who I want to be. I want to be a disciple of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Alma 5:26 says, "26 And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?"
1, 2 - secret room we found in the church (not sure which day)
3, 4 - Horny Toad
5 - cactus
