Week 74

Merry CHRISTmas, everyone! I hope y’all all had a great week and that it was a happy time for everyone. Because last week's email was a bit weird, this one is too. It'll just go from Tuesday to Sunday, but I've managed to find some stuff to talk about.

TUESDAY: President Willis' kids were in town for the holidays and wanted to play pickleball, so we went to the church and played with them and some other missionaries. And as you'd expect of a very recent return missionary and a guy who lives in Utah, they were pretty good. After all that fun, we went up to Las Cruces for a combined Christmas party with all the missionaries on the west side of El Paso, all the missionaries in Las Cruces, and all the missionaries from Silver City. It was a ton of fun, with us going caroling at rest homes, having a talent show, dinner, some party games, and even a devotional reading of the Christmas story. It was a ton of fun, and I really enjoyed meeting a lot of the missionaries who I'd never talked to before.

WEDNESDAY: We started the day by watching It's A Wonderful Life with all the missionaries in the zone. It was a really good movie, and I enjoyed it a lot. After that, we all just hung out and played some board games and some volleyball. What I enjoyed the most was that evening the Stake President had all the missionaries over at his house for dinner, caroling, and a white elephant gift exchange.

THURSDAY: I had to meet with the other Social Media Trainers in the zone to plan a joint training for tomorrow's zone council. It was pretty simple but took a while because we had to figure out something to motivate the zone. We ended up settling on a competition where the winners got a free breakfast, and the losers had to make and pay for said breakfast.

FRIDAY: I went on exchanges after zone council! With it being a new transfer, President Willis changed up the districts a bit, so now the Social Media Leaders (my bosses haha) are in our district. While Elder Fetuao was in another meeting, I just hung out with both SML companionships and helped them out with some of the stuff they were planning for the mission. It was pretty fun watching and helping them out. Once we got the exchange going, it was a pretty normal day of missionary work.

SATURDAY: We had some service picking up pecans! Pecans are a really big thing in southern New Mexico, so there are a bunch of orchards for them.

SUNDAY: We had some random guy who the sister missionaries in Silver City found through Facebook show up at church. It was pretty surprising, but we were able to introduce ourselves to him and even teach him a lesson about baptism after the second hour.

Isaiah 9:2 says, "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined." Don't let Jesus Christ be the only light in someone's life; share your own light with everyone you can and bring about a beautiful bright day!
