Week 101
I've got this email, the next one, and then I'll be home! I'm so grateful for what the mission has done for me, and I'm so grateful for how much it has helped me get closer to the Savior.
MONDAY wasn't anything too special this week because no one got together until around 4. But I did get to work on some basketball skills with Elder Burnett, which was a bunch of fun!
TUESDAY was a little crazy because, right in the middle of zone council, the other 3 departing missionaries in the zone and I all got our flight plans for returning home. You can guess what all of us were doing during the zone lunch. Then, to top it off, we had dinner with our ward mission leader that night, and he gave me a bunch of advice about returning home.
WEDNESDAY we had some funny things happen. The first was that me and my comp weighed the exact same when we weighed ourselves, and the second was that Elder Burnett kept getting jumpscared by random birds. It was pretty funny to me, at least.
THURSDAY we had an almost 2-hour visit with our friend Teddy and his family. They're some really great people, and it was a lot of fun to talk with them all.
FRIDAY was the 4th of July! Happy Independence Day to everyone! Because a lot of the missionaries didn't have dinners that night, we made a pork roast and had everyone get together to have our own party and dinner. It was pretty fun, and the food turned out well.
SATURDAY we had a ward breakfast at the veterans park to celebrate with the ward. We did some fun games like sack races and such and just hung out with everyone. After that, we went and did service for 3 hours helping a member get his property cleaned up and organized. It got us a pretty good workout, and he even gave us both a knife to say thank you.
SUNDAY I talked with the bishop here about going home and got some advice from him. We also had our zone introduction that evening, where I got to say that I've been out long enough to see the whole rest of the mission come out.
2 Nephi 4:18-20 says, "18 I am encompassed about, because of the temptations and the sins which do so easily beset me. 19 And when I desire to rejoice, my heart groaneth because of my sins; nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted. 20 My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep."
