Week 100

100 emails while I've been in the field. It's crazy that I only have a little bit left here in the mission field. A couple people have asked when I go home, so I thought I'd put that my official release date is July 15th.
MONDAY was fun for a couple of reasons. One of the biggest ones was that we got rain for the first time in months! It was so nice that I just went outside the church and walked around in it for a bit. The other thing I really enjoyed was that the STLs had set up a game of real-life Clue for the zone to play. They split us up into teams with a couple people acting as the pieces and another controlling them. We had to go around the church to different rooms looking for clues to find out which team had ate the cake. It was a lot of fun and got a little crazy at the end with people running into each other to try and get the final clue.
TUESDAY was interesting because we really got to see the Spirit guiding us to where we needed to be. We finished up with District Council and had no idea where to go, but then got a prompting to visit one of our members. We got there and it turned out they needed a blessing and some service because they had just had surgery. It was really nice to see that the Lord was able to guide us to be somewhere at the right place and time to help out.
WEDNESDAY we had our mission's 1-year anniversary and conference with the whole mission. It was really great to be able to see a bunch of people who are in different zones and say goodbye to them before I go home. I also got to give my departing testimony in front of the whole mission and feel how strong the Spirit was there. I really enjoyed that, but it was also a bit freaky to me because I was the first person to give my departing testimony haha.
THURSDAY was close to being my favorite day this week just because we had a super big rainstorm! The streets were flooding and it was hard to see while driving, but we need the rain and I just really love the rain in general.
FRIDAY we went on exchanges with the ZLs and I got to be with Elder Fetuao, one of my past companions. It was a pretty good day, but the most notable part was when we just sat in the car for an hour talking about how to improve the unity within the zone and districts.
SATURDAY we spent our whole morning just making 3 contacts because they all answered and talked for about an hour each. It took a while, but we could tell that they all needed the visit, so we didn't mind at all.
SUNDAY our schedule got all thrown off because of a Spanish baptism, a lesson, and forgetting the meal calendar at home, which led to us having only about an hour to actually make contacts and do missionary work that day. Gotta love when we get thrown a curveball by God.
D&C 68:1–5 says, "1 My servant, Orson Hyde, was called by his ordination to proclaim the everlasting gospel, by the Spirit of the living God, from people to people, and from land to land, in the congregations of the wicked, in their synagogues, reasoning with and expounding all scriptures unto them. 2 And, behold, and lo, this is an ensample unto all those who were ordained unto this priesthood, whose mission is appointed unto them to go forth— 3 And this is the ensample unto them, that they shall speak as they are moved upon by the Holy Ghost. 4 And whatsoever they shall speak when moved upon by the Holy Ghost shall be scripture, shall be the will of the Lord, shall be the mind of the Lord, shall be the word of the Lord, shall be the voice of the Lord, and the power of God unto salvation. 5 Behold, this is the promise of the Lord unto you, O ye my servants."

This email won't be too long because the only thing that really happened this week was that both Elder Shawcroft and I got a stomach bug which knocked us out for the week. It was a rough couple of days, but we're back in shape and are excited to return to the work. MONDAY we had our last p-day of the transfer down in Santa Fe. We played a bunch of dodgeball with the whole zone for a bit and then a handful of us started playing the one board game called 7 Wonders with one of the senior missionaries. The rest of the day was pretty normal, except at the very end when Elder Shawcroft started having symptoms from the stomach bug. TUESDAY we just stayed inside and let Elder Shawcroft work on recovering. WEDNESDAY we managed to have a phone lesson with one of our friends we had been teaching for a bit, Anna. Week 24

This was a really good week, but a lot of it is kind of blurred together. There's a day where I'm thinking that we talked to a certain person just yesterday, but it was really three days ago. At least that means the days are going quickly. MONDAY was a fun and sad day. At zone p-day, we had a lot of fun playing basketball, board games, and just hanging out, but we also said goodbye to a sister who was going home early. It's sad to see missionaries go home early in every case, but I know that the Lord has a plan for each and every one of us. At dinner that night, we got to hold some snakes that this member family had. It was pretty cool to be able to hold them and feel them, but Elder Stanger was not as excited as I was. For the last bit of the day, we were able to have a lesson with the bishop of one of our wards and a less active family that we had been meeting with, and you could just feel the bishop's love for them. Week 73

Don't worry, I didn't miss a week; we just had our p-day moved to Christmas Eve! This email will be slightly longer, but next week's will be a bit shorter. MONDAY we made cookies with our district before everyone got together for p-day. We didn't have a mixer, so they just made me use my hand to mix the dough. TUESDAY we had a couple of really good lessons with some of the people we met. I also had a meeting with all the other social media trainers in the mission to help get them prepared for the new transfer. WEDNESDAY nothing went as we planned. We had everything set up a certain way that morning during daily planning, and by the end of the day, our schedule was completely different! THURSDAY I took a bit of time getting some presents and letters ready for my last and current mission presidents.
