Week 95
A couple more doctor visits and the announcement of the next AP for our mission has given some interesting events for this week.
MONDAY was a whole ordeal all on its own because we spent about 4 hours just sitting in waiting rooms at the E.R. to get Elder Riggle's leg looked at. Our mission nurse thought he might have something called compartment syndrome and told him to go to the E.R. because if he did have it, he would possibly need emergency surgery. We went, waited around for a while, got his leg looked at for about 10 minutes, and were told that he was fine.
TUESDAY we joined a bunch of the other missionaries in the zone for Spanish class so that Elder Riggle can start working on his Spanish before the mission turns fully Spanish.
WEDNESDAY we had a follow-up at urgent care for Elder Riggle's leg. More sitting in waiting rooms, hurray!
THURSDAY we were able to spend some time out and about knocking doors and contacting the friends we're teaching. It was great to be able to be back to doing stuff, and we even had a really fun dinner with a family in the ward.
FRIDAY I went on exchanges with Elder Dance, who was trained by Elder Hardy, one of my past companions. It was fun getting to know him, but the day was a bit rough because almost no one talked to us.
SATURDAY we had some really good lessons teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ! One of our friends had needed help getting home from the hospital the night before, and one of our members was able to pick her up. While they were taking her back, they had shared about baptisms for the dead, which allowed us to really focus on the importance of being baptized. We put her on date for baptism on the 14th of June, so it was an exciting lesson.
SUNDAY we had some fun during ward council. The conversation somehow got to our bishop's farm, and he started to talk about this cow that they had that they had thought was pregnant, and he said, "She wasn't pregnant, she's just a fat cow!" It was really funny. Then that night, we got the announcement that Elder Short, one of my old companions, will be the new assistant to the mission president.
2 Nephi 9:52 says, "52 Behold, my beloved brethren, remember the words of your God; pray unto him continually by day, and give thanks unto his holy name by night. Let your hearts rejoice."
