Week 91
This week has had its ups and downs, but we're trying to take it all in stride. Whenever something comes up that messes with our plans, I just smile and laugh now.
MONDAY was a lot of fun because I got to see a bunch of people I've served with before as well as getting to meet a handful of new people as well. The zone is all super friendly, and it's led to us being really unified in the things we do. We played a couple of card games and then did some pickleball and basketball, so it was a fun day.
TUESDAY morning we got the whole zone together to go play some basketball in the morning for exercise. It's something I've never really tried before, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. A little later, we had District Council and zone lunch as normal, but something that was notable was that we joined the leadership wrap-up. I've never been a part of one before, and I don't think I'd like to in the future just because it was boring. Neat experience though!
WEDNESDAY was pretty great! We had a lot of really good lessons where the Spirit was strong, and we even put one of our friends on date for baptism! It's really exciting to be able to work with so many people and help them grow closer to Jesus Christ!
THURSDAY we helped one of our recent converts set up his church account and schedule an appointment to go do baptisms at the Albuquerque Temple on May 6th! It'll be exciting to be able to go to the temple with him and help him to do baptisms for his ancestors.
FRIDAY we spent a lot of time at urgent care and at the pharmacy because I needed some help with an issue I was having. But it'll all be fine, and we'll get back to the work even better than before!
SATURDAY we had a couple of good lessons with our friends. With one of them, we had just finished teaching the Plan of Salvation and the Spirit was really strong. Elder Riggle and I both felt that we needed to invite her to be baptized, but when we invited her, she said she wasn't sure yet. It was a bit disappointing, but we asked her if she would pray about it, and she said she would.
SUNDAY it was just one thing after another. We went to church already expecting to have a really weird schedule because of some of the lessons we had planned. Church was nice because we had a friend and one of our recent converts come, and both of them enjoyed it! But right afterward was when things started to fall apart. When we stepped out of the church, Elder Riggle and I said in perfect sync, "Aww, come on! You've got to be kidding!" This was because when we went out, there was a massive dust storm that we could tell would keep us inside for the rest of the day. And the final piece was that in the 20 minutes it took us to try and visit one of our friends out in the boonies and then driving back to the highway so we could go home and have dinner, our tire went completely flat. Upside was that I learned how to change a tire hahaha.
1 John 3:21–24 says,
"21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us."
