Week 85
Transfers have been fun, training has been a little stressful. I guess that's how it goes when you do anything new, but opening a new area is also the cherry on top. But the members here are super cool!
MONDAY was a fun last P-day in the Mt. Franklin zone. We got together at this one board game shop and beat a game I really wanted to try. Afterwards, we went to the church and had a big Nerf war with the zone in the cultural hall. Then we finished up my signing transfer journals and saying goodbye to the missionaries who were heading home.
TUESDAY I went on exchanges with another elder being transferred and we basically just spent the whole day saying goodbyes to members and packing up our stuff.
WEDNESDAY we had our transfers and I picked up my new greenie, Elder Droge (Dro-ge). He's from West Valley City, UT and is actually older than me, which is funny. We had some trainings from the APs and the mission president, lunch, and then loaded our luggage into our new truck. Fun fact, this is the first time I've been assigned driver in all 20 months of my mission. I was starting to think that the APs had forgotten I could drive, haha! We then proceeded to spend 3 hours driving to our new area, and the rest of the day trying to get our Preach My Gospel app fixed so we could know who lives where in our area.
THURSDAY we got up early to help out with the food bank all the missionaries in Silver City go to each Thursday for service. It was pretty fun and it was a good chance to get to know the other missionaries in the district. Once we actually got to our area, we mostly just spent the time meeting members and figuring out who the ward's leaders were.
FRIDAY we had our zone council meeting. It was different from what I've done before because this one they did at the institute building in Silver City. It made the lunch afterwards fun because a lot of the missionaries just went and played pool or darts in the other room. Also, we got snow that morning and it froze our car shut.
SATURDAY we got more snow! All of our members were telling us that it is really good because they haven't gotten much rain recently.
SUNDAY we went to the Stake Correlation meeting. It was a first for me and it was really cool seeing all the stake's leadership really focus on what we can do to better share the gospel in our stake.
Doctrine and Covenants 33:6 says, "6 And even so will I gather mine elect from the four quarters of the earth, even as many as will believe in me, and hearken unto my voice."
1, 2, 3 – getting the greenie
4 – frozen car
