Week 75
Happy New Year! I hope y'all made the most of this last year and that you'll strive to be even better this year! It feels a little weird because this now means that I'm in the last year of my mission.
MONDAY we started the morning off bright and early, hiking Mt. Christo Rey at 8:30 with the district. It's an interesting place for two main reasons: the massive statue of Jesus Christ at the top and the fact that it's an open spot in the border wall, so people use it as a place to cross. It was a really fun hike, and after, we went to this steakhouse for lunch with the other elders in the district.
TUESDAY we had interviews with President Willis at 1:20 and 1:30 for just our companionship. We didn't get into our interviews until 1:50 and 2:30 because he was so backed up. At this point, I've just accepted that every time we are going to have interviews, it's going to take a while. That evening we came in early, got a mission-wide devotional, and I managed to finish the Old Testament right at 10:30, so now I only have the New Testament to read before I go home.
WEDNESDAY we had one of our zone leaders come on a blitz with us in our area and give us some advice on how we can improve our finding efforts in the area.
THURSDAY we did a bit of service for one of our members, getting rid of some weeds. We also had set up to do a tour of the church with the people we met the day before, but no one showed up.
FRIDAY I went on an exchange with one of the SMLs in our district. What's a little funny about it is that our areas overlap, but his is just Spanish, and all the people we found that day were really elect Spanish speakers. Dinner had a lot of people because one of the senior missionary couples took us and two other sets of missionaries out to eat at this pizza place. A bit of a sad moment for the day was that I lost my magnetic name tag and wasn't able to find it.
SATURDAY was a very spirit-led day where both Elder Fetuao and I were working really well together.
SUNDAY we had one of our friends show up at church for the first hour, which was cool.
For this week's spiritual thought, I'd just like to invite everyone to reread The Restoration Proclamation and to ponder on what the restoration of the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ means to you and to your families.
