Week 71
Something that was notable for the whole week was that we had a pickup or drop-off dinner every single day. Not something I've had before, so it was a bit weird not interacting with a bunch of members during the week.
MONDAY the mission office set up an activity painting Christmas ornaments for the tree in the office. It was fun, and I can confidently say that my artistic abilities have not improved at all since coming on the mission.
TUESDAY Elder Fetuao got sick, so I decided to just sleep and read the Bible all day.
WEDNESDAY we had zone conference! I really enjoyed it because it was the first time in about 3 months that I was able to get together with so many missionaries. I got to see a couple of my past companions and even President Riley for Monahans!
THURSDAY we had interviews with President Willis. Mine was really quick like normal, but apparently, they ended up getting super behind on schedule.
FRIDAY we went out finding with a service missionary in our ward in the morning before district council. It was fun watching him teach and how excited he was to do it. After district council, we did a zone-wide exchange where everyone in the zone went on an exchange with someone they wouldn't normally go with.
SATURDAY the stake president for our zone had all the missionaries in the stake come over for a breakfast/devotional thing. His family does it every month, and I learned that one of the missionaries there had been 23 times because he'd been in the stake almost his whole mission. Today was also the day that our zone finished reading the Book of Mormon in a month. Then, in the evening, we went to this wedding reception-type thing for some of our recent converts who got married.
SUNDAY both Elder Fetuao and I gave talks during sacrament meeting. Our mission president and his wife were sitting in some of the front rows right in front of me, so I made sure to joke on him a little. We will find out in a couple of weeks where that joke gets me transferred to.
The quote I was asked to speak on from Elder Casillas' talk from the last general conference says, “One of the crafts of the adversary today is to make us think and believe that there is no way for us to change or that we no longer have hope. This destructive thinking causes many of us to stop trying. And it is at this moment when our love, our words of encouragement and support, our time, and our help can give someone hope enough to try once more.” During this Christmas season, please be the one to reach out and give someone the strength they need to go on.
