Week 69

It wasn't quite the best week because I spent a lot of it feeling under the weather, but we still managed to have some fun and get some work done.

MONDAY we had all the normal p-day activities like sports and games. It's pretty cool having p-day at the same building as the mission office because you're able to just go and talk with the senior missionaries if you want or just randomly see President and Sister Willis. It's also been starting to get pretty cold around here when it gets dark, which I personally don't like too much.

TUESDAY I finished reading the Book of Mormon for the second time on my mission. It's really satisfying to be able to read through it and see what you learned on the first go-through and compare it with what you learned on the second. Also, a pretty high point for my week is that on this day, everyone in the apartment but me got buzz cuts. It's pretty fun because none of them are happy with it after the fact.

WEDNESDAY we did a Book of Mormon tabbing activity with all the youth in the ward. We tabbed them on certain verses and chapters that answer questions of the soul and then gave them out to people so that they don't get quite so overwhelmed with the whole book. The activity went pretty well, but let's just say the deacons kinda suck at following instructions, and we've had to spend a bit of time going behind them and checking their work.

THURSDAY we had a late exchange with one of the other district leaders. We had to wait until around 2 to start the exchange because the other district leader and his companion had a member taking them to a steak house for lunch and they didn't want to miss that. Once we started the exchange, it was going pretty well, but I started feeling kinda bad by the end of the day.

FRIDAY was when the sickness hit me full-on. I was really sad about having to stay home because some of the members in our ward had invited us to their wedding.

SATURDAY I was still kinda sick, but I felt good enough to go out and work, so we got back to the work.

SUNDAY we had an early Thanksgiving dinner. We ate a bunch and had a really good time with the family that had us over.

President Thomas S. Monson said these words about showing gratitude during the October 2012 general conference: "We are blessed with so very much. And yet it is sometimes difficult to view the problems and permissiveness around us and not become discouraged. I have found that, rather than dwelling on the negative, if we will take a step back and consider the blessings in our lives, including seemingly small, sometimes overlooked blessings, we can find greater happiness." Have a happy Thanksgiving and make sure to find something to be grateful for every day; you'll find a ton of stuff you'll thank God for.
