Week 67

I've finished up in Monahans and now I'm back in El Paso! I really loved being able to work with the people in the Monahans branch while I was there, and I'll miss them, but now I get to work with the people in Redd Ward.

MONDAY I started the day with a bit of a weird "exchange." Because my companion, Elder Hardy, was getting a new missionary as his companion, he had to be in El Paso on Wednesday to do some training with him. Also, the Alpine elders had to send Elder Campbell to El Paso to do some departing missionary activities. And because of all that, the other Alpine elder, Elder Stoddard, and I were companions for Monday and Tuesday. It was super fun hanging out with him during p-day, and he even taught me this cool dice game at the end of the day called Liars Dice.

TUESDAY I had a meeting for all the new social media trainers that I had to attend to get ready for the new transfer. It was pretty funny to do it while Elder Stoddard was there because he was the social media leader, the person over all the social media in the mission, just the last transfer, so he just explained everything they were talking about to me and the process they went through to set that stuff up.

WEDNESDAY I finished up packing and was all prepped to make the trip to El Paso. But before we left to go to the transfer site, Elder Stoddard and I set up a bit of a prank for when Elder Hardy got back with his greenie. Almost the rest of the day was just spent on driving to El Paso, meeting Elder Fetuao and unpacking at the apartment, and then being really bored at a new leadership meeting Elder Fetuao had to go to.

THURSDAY I learned about how all the elders in the zone go and work out at this crazy nice home CrossFit gym a member in the Redd Ward has. It was pretty cool, but after a bit, all the elders weren't even working out and were just hanging out and talking.

FRIDAY we had our district council, and it was fine for the meeting, but the lunch after was a little overwhelming. Going from Fort Stockton to Mt. Franklin was a huge size change in the number of people, so there were a lot more people than what I had gotten used to, and then we even had President and Sister Willis show up and eat with us. This was also the moment that I learned that they lived in the Redd Ward boundaries.

SATURDAY we went to a huge service project picking a ton of pumpkins. The whole stake was involved, so there were probably close to a hundred people there helping out. Then, after a bit of a weird exchange with one of the other district leaders, we played some pickleball with some members and other missionaries to end the night.

SUNDAY was cool because I went from having church at a small branch to being in a pretty big ward. A ton of people introduced themselves, but I honestly can't even remember most of who talked to me that day.

2 Nephi 6:17 says, "But thus saith the Lord: Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for the Mighty God shall deliver His covenant people. For thus saith the Lord: I will contend with them that contendeth with thee." We can face overwhelming things in our lives, but Jesus Christ is enough to free us from any trial.
