Week 63
This week we got some more exciting news and it's made us even more busy!
MONDAY we spent a bit of time getting our car cleaned up because we had to turn it in the next day so we could get the new car they were assigning us. This is the third time I've had to swap out a car in my mission, and it's always pretty exciting because the new cars are always brand new.
TUESDAY we went back down to Fort Stockton for zone conference. The zone conference out here is a little disappointing because of how small it is, but we still had a really good discussion on how we can form good habits and break bad habits. We were also able to take some time and go over President Nelson's talk from conference. We had our interviews with President afterward and it seems like he's thinking about putting another set of missionaries out here in Monahans, which would be really exciting.
WEDNESDAY we had a really awesome lesson in Kermit with a friend who had referred herself from Facebook. She talked about how she really wanted to have a better understanding of what the purpose of life is and how she can find answers in her life, so we shared the plan of salvation with her and talked about how we can receive revelation as we pray to God.
THURSDAY we had a funny moment with a member we were having lunch with. I had gotten distracted by something on the TV and was just quietly staring off into space without realizing. Our member thought this was pretty weird and said, "Elder Bell, you make me anxious. You're just sitting there quietly like some kind of silent assassin." I remembered to talk more after that.
FRIDAY was the first time I have left the area for an exchange since I got to Monahans! I went over to Fort Stockton with Elder Lee and we were able to teach a bunch of their friends.
SATURDAY we spent some time with our branch mission leader planning the baptisms for 3 of our friends. The only real trouble is that they are all Spanish speakers, so we need to find Spanish speakers to help with the baptism.
SUNDAY we had our mission prep class with the youth after church. We have an unbaptized youth in the branch who has been coming to church for 6 months now and just recently he decided that he wants to be baptized, so we put him on date for the 26th.
[The] purpose [of temples] is to bless the covenant children of God with temple worship and with … sacred responsibilities and powers. - Dallin H. Oaks.
