Week 62
This week has been pretty eventful! Exchanges, service, and general conference were all pretty exciting, and I'm sure a lot of people were excited about conference too.
MONDAY we had a lot of fun with the zone when we got together. We played a bunch of board games and then had lunch, which was nice so we could get to know each other better. That night, I went on an exchange with the district leader's companion so that we could teach our Spanish friends, and they all unfortunately fell through.
TUESDAY the exchange went for the rest of the day, making it one of the longer exchanges I've been on. We unexchanged that night around 7, so we had to use the rest of the night to get back to our area and then had a super late dinner.
WEDNESDAY we did some service for a member, helping him clean out a rental home he owns. The last tenant had treated it really badly, so we had a lot of work to do. We had to pick up broken glass, window frames, doors, trim, and a bunch of other junk.
THURSDAY we went back again to help the same member finish up cleaning out the place and then went with him to the dump to unload all the stuff. All together, we did a combined 12 hours of service in 2 days. You can guess how tired we were.
FRIDAY I was the driver for this exchange. It's pretty crazy that I can count the number of times I've driven on the mission on one hand. It was a good day with us being able to sort out the plans for the baptism of some of our friends and also stop by an interesting inactive member.
SATURDAY we watched all the sessions of general conference with this one family and some of the youth in the ward. It was really fun being able to talk with them and get to know them in between the sessions.
SUNDAY we woke up to find that there were 2 cop cars outside talking with the neighbors. Later that day, we got the very exciting news at the end of general conference that El Paso is getting a temple! So many members in El Paso and the surrounding area have been praying for a temple for so long, so this is really exciting for them.
3 Nephi 17:3 says, "3 Therefore, go ye unto your homes, and ponder upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name, that ye may understand, and prepare your minds for the morrow, and I come unto you again." When you learn something, ask the Father for guidance and for understanding so that He can have the Spirit grant us understanding.
