Week 57
I can sum this week up by saying that it has rained a lot. We've had almost nonstop rain for four days this week, which has been a good reminder of home. The only downside is that it's really humid now.
MONDAY: Both Elder Watson and I needed haircuts pretty badly, so we took a bit of time and went to a member who said they would cut our hair for free. Other than that, it was a bit of a boring day where we just hung out in Monahans.
TUESDAY: We had zone conference in Fort Stockton. It was pretty different from what I had been used to in the Albuquerque mission because it was just the missionaries in the Fort Stockton zone and also because of how they taught us. It was still really good, though.
WEDNESDAY: We normally go to the young men's activities because a youth we are working with, who hasn't been baptized, goes. This week we planned a bunch of the activities they want to do this year. We were also able to take some time to talk with the young men and young women leaders to see what we can do to help the youth in the branch, so it was pretty productive.
THURSDAY: The rain started to come down off and on pretty hard. Thankfully, we saw it coming, so we had our coats, but it still soaked us pretty well. When we went to our English class that evening, my companion found a lizard in the church and decided it would be a fun idea to toss it on me. That led to a funny couple of minutes where I was trying to get it off me while the people learning English were making some jokes.
FRIDAY: Nothing too special happened. The rain did stay pretty heavy, though, so it wasn't very hot.
SATURDAY: We went up to Kermit to visit some people, and the rain was still at it. It had been raining so much that it actually made a river in one of the streets.
SUNDAY: Almost everyone in our mission was fasting for an elder who was having some health issues that would determine if he could stay on a mission or not. If the Lord still needs him to keep working here, then he will stay. The Lord works miracles all the time.
This week I wanted to share this talk we focused on at zone conference. I hope y’all like it as much as I did.
