Week 53

This was actually a really eventful week where we were able to help a lot of the friends we have been teaching make steps toward the Covenant path! I really love being a missionary because I am able to help the Lord in this great work!

MONDAY was my companion's, Elder Krebs, birthday! To celebrate, we went to Top Golf with the missionaries in our district. Afterwards, we went and had lunch with the Spanish missionaries we used to live with at a place called Famous Dave's. It was pretty good, and to make it even better, a member walked in and paid for us just as we were about to pay.

TUESDAY we went on exchanges with the district leader. We met up at a McDonald's to exchange and have lunch together, and an interesting miracle happened. We ordered a really big order for everyone, and somehow, we ended up getting the order twice but only paying once!

WEDNESDAY we visited with an older convert, got to know him a bit, and learned about how he joined the church. He had a really cool story about how he turned his life around completely and got baptized. We also went to a really nice steakhouse with a bunch of the other members of the zone to have lunch and end the exchange from yesterday.

THURSDAY we had another exchange, this time with the Assistants to the Mission President. Because we are in a trio but are technically two separate areas, we ended up swapping who was with the AP a lot that day so he could get to know all three of us.

FRIDAY our zone council went extra long, going 40 minutes over when it normally ends. They were doing a really big push on new ways to find people to teach, and they didn't want to cut what they had prepared halfway through, so they just kept going. The rest of the day after that, we were just running from lesson to lesson.

SATURDAY we were baptizing all day! Elder Krebs was able to baptize our friends Marley and Alfonso, which took up most of the day. We also got to help out with some of the Facebook page testimonies because the social media leaders showed up a little after Marley's baptism.

SUNDAY I was able to confirm Marley as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and give her the Gift of the Holy Ghost!

Helaman 7:17 says:
"17 O repent ye, repent ye! Why will ye die? Turn ye, turn ye unto the Lord your God."

This email won't be too long because the only thing that really happened this week was that both Elder Shawcroft and I got a stomach bug which knocked us out for the week. It was a rough couple of days, but we're back in shape and are excited to return to the work. MONDAY we had our last p-day of the transfer down in Santa Fe. We played a bunch of dodgeball with the whole zone for a bit and then a handful of us started playing the one board game called 7 Wonders with one of the senior missionaries. The rest of the day was pretty normal, except at the very end when Elder Shawcroft started having symptoms from the stomach bug. TUESDAY we just stayed inside and let Elder Shawcroft work on recovering. WEDNESDAY we managed to have a phone lesson with one of our friends we had been teaching for a bit, Anna. Week 24

This was a really good week, but a lot of it is kind of blurred together. There's a day where I'm thinking that we talked to a certain person just yesterday, but it was really three days ago. At least that means the days are going quickly. MONDAY was a fun and sad day. At zone p-day, we had a lot of fun playing basketball, board games, and just hanging out, but we also said goodbye to a sister who was going home early. It's sad to see missionaries go home early in every case, but I know that the Lord has a plan for each and every one of us. At dinner that night, we got to hold some snakes that this member family had. It was pretty cool to be able to hold them and feel them, but Elder Stanger was not as excited as I was. For the last bit of the day, we were able to have a lesson with the bishop of one of our wards and a less active family that we had been meeting with, and you could just feel the bishop's love for them. Week 73

Don't worry, I didn't miss a week; we just had our p-day moved to Christmas Eve! This email will be slightly longer, but next week's will be a bit shorter. MONDAY we made cookies with our district before everyone got together for p-day. We didn't have a mixer, so they just made me use my hand to mix the dough. TUESDAY we had a couple of really good lessons with some of the people we met. I also had a meeting with all the other social media trainers in the mission to help get them prepared for the new transfer. WEDNESDAY nothing went as we planned. We had everything set up a certain way that morning during daily planning, and by the end of the day, our schedule was completely different! THURSDAY I took a bit of time getting some presents and letters ready for my last and current mission presidents.
