Week 49
Happy Independence Day, everyone! This week had some interesting moments and some very annoying weather, but the work will go on no matter what.
MONDAY was a pretty fun day and was the first P-day since President Willis got to the mission field. We spent a lot of the day with most of the zone doing activities like playing pickleball at the public courts and then played a bunch of board games at zone P-day. To end off this day, I'll give everyone a warning to not look at their phone while driving because my companion did that and now we have to take our car to an auto shop.
TUESDAY we had a bit too much fun during weekly planning. I got completely wrapped up in some plastic wrap. After we finished planning and got me out of that stuff, we went and saw the new mission office for the first time because our vehicle coordinator wanted to check the damage to our car. It was pretty cool for me because I was able to meet a lot of senior and proselytizing missionaries I hadn't met yet, and I even got to say hello to the new mission president and his wife. That day while tracting was crazy too because we got so much rain out of nowhere that it caused a lot of the streets to flood.
WEDNESDAY we spent a lot of our day just going around and visiting people in our area who we haven't been able to stop by in a while. Other than that, not much of anything interesting happened.
THURSDAY was a weird day for us to be doing missionary work because of how everyone was celebrating Independence Day. We had to go back to the mission office because we had to retire one of the mission vehicles and get a replacement for it. We even got to see the mission president while we were there again, and he even did a mini companionship interview with all of us.
FRIDAY there was way too much unhealthy food at District Council. People brought donuts, pizza, and I even brought monkey bread for the zone because our zone beat the El Paso zone in a Facebook competition. None of it was good for us, but it tasted really good.
SATURDAY we helped one of the senior missionary couples move out of their apartment. They had been assigned to be the new mission housing coordinator and the mission office secretary, so they wanted to be in an apartment closer to the mission office. In return for all that hard work, we got a lot of donuts.
SUNDAY we had fast Sunday, and it was a bit rough because it was also super hot outside. It was staying around 110 for most of the day, and being out in that for even a little bit was really exhausting. Later that evening, we had our mission family home evening, and Sister Willis talked a lot about how before they left for the MTC she didn't feel like she was cut out to be a mission leader. She then went on to talk about how she realized that she isn't enough on her own, but that she is enough because she has Jesus Christ supporting her.
For my spiritual thought, I wanted to talk about what Sister Willis talked about. In our lives, we face all kinds of trials and have all kinds of responsibilities that will be a part of our lives, and it can be very overwhelming. But through Jesus Christ, we are able to handle these trials. We are able to turn to the atonement he has made for us for comfort and turn to our Heavenly Father in prayer for guidance.
