Week 46
Getting ready for the mission split and going down south has made this week really hectic. I also added a bunch of people to my email list this last week, so for a quick recap: I have been reassigned to the Texas, El Paso mission and have been sent down to El Paso midway through the transfer. When the mission splits, I'll be staying down here.
MONDAY: Elder Shawcroft and I just stayed in Taos so that I could finish packing my bags and say goodbye to a bunch of the members up there. We even ended up playing a couple of games of chess with one of the members we visited near the end of P-day.
TUESDAY: The southern part of our mission had their zone conference with Elder Alonso of the Area Seventy, and all the missionaries in the north were allowed to join over Zoom for the first half. It had a really strong focus on the principles of discipleship as a missionary and what we can do to improve as missionaries. After that, we went out tracting for a bit and then headed home to get all my bags into the truck so we could head out. On the way out of Taos, we got some ice cream and said goodbye to some of the members that work there before we got on the road to EspaƱola again.
WEDNESDAY: We had the northern zone conference with Elder Alonso and the rest of the northern missionaries. It was a really spirit-filled meeting, and I was glad I was able to take some time to say goodbye to everyone I had served with up north. The rest of the day, I was in a trio with the zone leaders in the Albuquerque zone so that it would be easier for me to get moved down south the next day.
THURSDAY: The Albuquerque ZLs took me and my stuff to the mission office so that I could start heading down south. There were seven of us heading down south, so I was paired up with another elder the whole trip. It was a pretty long trip, taking up most of the day to get down to my new area and then get unpacked, but after that was all done, we went out and did a bit of finding for the rest of the day.
FRIDAY: It was my first district council down south, so I was able to take a bit of time to meet some new faces and say hi to some I had met before up north. It was nice seeing some familiar faces that I had served with before, but it was still pretty cool to meet new people and hear their mission stories.
SATURDAY: We found out that one of the missionaries we share the ward with will be going home early for medical reasons. It's really sad to see him go, but the Lord has a plan for him wherever he is. Because he wanted to say goodbyes to some people, his companion and my companion swapped spots for the day, and I went out tracting with him. What made this fun was that he was the elder I drove down to El Paso with.
SUNDAY: We went to church in the new ward for the first time. It was pretty unique because our ward meets in the first chapel built in Texas. After church, we were running around town a lot, giving blessings to some people that needed help.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the great fathers out there!
In Alma 9:26, it says, "And not many days hence the Son of God shall come in his glory; and his glory shall be the glory of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace, equity, and truth, full of patience, mercy, and long-suffering, quick to hear the cries of his people and to answer their prayers."
