Week 44

This week we had a good mix of very friendly people and very unfriendly people. It's been a pretty good example of how there are good and bad examples of any faith or group that you can meet.

MONDAY we had our first district p-day of the transfer. The areas that are in the district got changed up a bit, so it was interesting getting to know some of the new missionaries a bit better.

TUESDAY we ran into one of those types who just wanted to talk at us about politics. He had some very interesting beliefs and wasted our whole hour of tracting by just talking at us.

WEDNESDAY we had another interesting person, with this one saying that they would let us share a message with them if we prayed the rosary with them. It was interesting just sitting there and listening to them give this really repetitive prayer. We then shared a message about the power of prayer and how it is a very personal way to seek guidance from our Heavenly Father.

THURSDAY nothing too interesting happened, but we had some members take us out to this really good Mexican place for dinner, which I'd never been to.

FRIDAY I went on district exchanges with an elder that came on with me down in Santa Fe, which was pretty cool. We ended up not tracting at all because of all the lessons that they had set up, which was pretty nice.

SATURDAY our mission president and his wife were up in our area doing some visits and called us asking if they could come over and visit. It was really fun just being able to visit with them and hear about some of the plans for the mission split.

SUNDAY we went out to the branch we cover for fast and testimony meeting. It's pretty interesting going out there because they always start late and end early just because there are so few people.

In Alma 21:9-11, it says, "9 Now Aaron began to open the scriptures unto them concerning the coming of Christ, and also concerning the resurrection of the dead, and that there could be no redemption for mankind save it were through the death and sufferings of Christ, and the atonement of his blood. 10 And it came to pass as he began to expound these things unto them they were angry with him, and began to mock him; and they would not hear the words which he spake. 11 Therefore, when he saw that they would not hear his words, he departed out of their..." In some cases, we will want to share the gospel or our own testimony with someone else, but it might not be the right time, or they might not be ready. Instead of letting contention into the interaction, it might be best to just take a step back and treat the situation with love and understanding as the Savior would.
