Week 40

Whenever we have Zone conference or interviews in a week, it usually means a lot of driving. This week we had both so I'd say most of our week we weren't even in our area.

MONDAY, we went on a hike with our district on one of the trails that went along a part of the Rio Grande. It took about an hour to go to the top and back, so it was a good time to get to know some of the other Elders in the district.

TUESDAY was a bit of an unfortunate day because during our weekly planning, a lot of the people we had been teaching dropped us and told us that they didn't want to meet with us anymore. It's a bit sad, but everyone has their own time to hear the gospel.

WEDNESDAY we were able to have a lesson with one of our friends we had been teaching for a bit, and we extended the invitation to pray about a baptism date. It was really exciting for me because they said that they would, and it really seems like they are dedicated to being baptized. Other than that, I day ended a bit short because we had to drive to our zone leader's house in EspaƱola so that we could stay the night before zone conference.

THURSDAY started off really early with us having to leave the house at 6:30 so we could get to zone conference on time. It's always a fun time to go to zone conference because I'm able to say hi to a bunch of the other missionaries I had served around and also hear a lot of good wisdom from President Edwards. After zone conference, we went to the mission office so that we could get a new truck! We had put a ton of miles into the truck we had, and the mission felt it was time for us to get a new one.

FRIDAY we had another good bit of driving to EspaƱola for zone council with everyone. The assistants to the mission president were there as well because they were going on exchanges with some people in the zone, so it was good to talk with them and get their opinions on the zone's commitments for the month.

SATURDAY we had to go down to Santa Fe for interviews with the mission president. Around this point, I think we've put around 10 hours of driving onto the new truck. The interviews went really well, and we then went back to Taos and did some finding. We were actually able to have a lesson with someone we visited and were able to set up a return appointment with them.

SUNDAY we had a fast and testimony meeting with a lot of people bearing their testimonies. It was a really great time because we had some of the people we have been teaching at church.

My spiritual thought this week is a scripture that my mission president had us focus on during zone conference. In 3 Nephi 5:13 it says, "13 Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life." I'm just really grateful to be able to serve the Lord and I just wanted to give a small reminder that we all can serve Him in our own small ways.
