Week 38

This has been the first full week of my seventh transfer, and I'd say it's been a fun one. I'm glad to still be serving with Elder Shawcroft here in the Taos ward and to be able to keep teaching the people.

MONDAY, because one of the areas in our district was whitewashed, meaning both missionaries there were replaced, they needed more time to get their apartment set up, so they decided not to come to district P-day. Because of that, the district decided to just do separate stuff this time around. Elder Shawcroft and I decided to just stay in our area and play a bunch of board and card games. It was nice to have a really calm and relaxed P-day without having to do a bunch of traveling.

TUESDAY, we had some odd service to help out with. Someone who missionaries had tried teaching in the past but marked as someone to not contact anymore because they just bash the missionaries had reached out to us a couple of days before, asking for help putting bags of dirt onto his roof so it wouldn't leak any. So, we went over and helped with that for a bit. His house was kinda odd just because most of its roof was made out of pallets. Once we finished up with that and got out of there before he could bash us, we got back to tracting for the rest of the day.

WEDNESDAY, we weren't able to avoid a Bible bash. We just started tracting for the day and almost immediately ran into someone who just bashed us for about an hour. It was a bit of a waste of time, but it at least let us use a bit of my knowledge of the Old and New Testament. We then went out to the topmost part of our area where there are actually people to do some service and then go have a lesson with a family who just moved back to the ward, which was a nice time.

THURSDAY, we had even more traveling because we had to go put to the lowest most part of our area where there actually people to give a member's neighbor a blessing of healing before his surgery. I've never been out to this part of our area before, so it was interesting to see it and the road that goes through the mountains to get to it. The hardest part of that day was that I just had some really awful allergies because spring is finally starting up.

FRIDAY, after district council, I went on exchanges with one of our zone leaders, Elder Cherry. It was really fun to go on an exchange with him because he was actually one of the missionaries I lived with when I was in my first area. We stayed up in Taos so we were able to have a lesson on the Word of Wisdom with one of our friends who wants to be baptized and go try and talk to some people at the plaza later at night.

SATURDAY, Taos finally got some rain for the first time in a while, so I was really happy about that because as you'd expect, New Mexico is very dry and I lived somewhere there was water everywhere, so the little bit of humidity was nice. We also got to have a lesson with one of our friends who I've never met. Elder Shawcroft and our district leader met him out tracting so this was the first real lesson we've had with him. We spent a bit of time going over the Book of Mormon with him and then did a tour of the chapel, and it all went really well.

SUNDAY, we had a really interesting Sunday school discussion on this week's Come Follow Me lesson, which was on the book of Enos to the word of Mormon. We have a family that feeds us every Sunday for lunch, and their dog somehow found some interesting animal skulls that they showed us.

Apparently, I've done a lot of walking on my mission because I've worn a hole into the insoles of my shoes already. This week's spiritual thought is from Mosiah 1:7 which says, "7 And now, my sons, I would that ye should remember to search them diligently, that ye may profit thereby; and I would that ye should keep the commandments of God, that ye may prosper in the land according to the promises which the Lord made unto our fathers." This verse talks about the importance of searching the scriptures and looking for how you can apply them to your life.
