Week 36
I hope you all have had a great week. This weekend was General Conference, so all the missionaries in the zone have been pretty excited for this week.
On MONDAY, we had a district P-day in Los Alamos, which is actually where the Manhattan Project took place. It was pretty cool because we got to see a lot of the houses they spent time in there and learn a bit more about the people who were a part of it. We even got to see the Oppenheimer house, which reminded me of all the memes from before my mission.
TUESDAY, we spent most of the day tracting and trying to find new people to start teaching. Not much else happened, but we did see some elk while we were knocking on doors.
On WEDNESDAY, we did more ditch digging. With all the snow melting, one of our members needed some help digging a ditch so that his septic tank didn't flood. It's pretty fun being able to help out with it, and it definitely gives us a solid workout. During the tracting time we had that day, we got kinda Bible bashed by some random lady, but that'll happen at least a couple of times on the mission, I guess.
THURSDAY, I went on exchanges to EspaƱola. It was pretty fun seeing a lot of the people that Elder Stanger, my last companion, knew when he was there.
FRIDAY, we unexchanged after District Council and then headed back to Taos. The district council was a pretty good one focused on how we each set our own meaning of success in missionary work. I'd say that our success of that day was that one of our friends who we've been teaching for a bit said that they want to be baptized!
On SATURDAY, it was the first day of General Conference! For the first session, we headed down to Santa Fe to have a big breakfast with the zone while we watched conference. It was a lot of fun, with everyone bringing stuff like pancakes, fruit, bacon, eggs, and juices. I contributed the most important breakfast food, popcorn. A lot of the rest of the day was just more General Conference watching.
SUNDAY, we watched the last 2 sessions of General Conference. There were some really great talks given and some pretty exciting news. With the temples announced this conference, there are now a total of 350 temples either in construction or in operation. General Conference is such a special time because it allows us to hear the guidance of the Lord for us in this day. The importance of studying the talks given with the Spirit's guidance.
