Week 35

Happy Easter, everyone! I hope everyone was able to use this wonderful time to remember the Savior's love and sacrifice for each and every one of us.

Monday, the weather still refuses to be normal and decided to give us a ton of snow. It was pretty crazy because some parts of our area only got a couple of inches and other parts got something like 2 feet of snow. We even got called out to a member's home to shovel snow off their back porch because they were worried the porch would collapse.

Tuesday was a weird day because we did weekly planning as normal, but only had enough time to do maybe an hour of tracting before we had to head down to Santa Fe so we could carpool down to Albuquerque for the temple trip the next day. It was pretty fun because we got to spend some time with some of the missionaries I came in with, got to listen to a really interesting talk from our mission president, and hang out with the APs at their apartment.

Wednesday, we got up early for the temple trip and headed to the temple. Being able to do a session at the temple is always such a peaceful feeling that I love being able to go wherever we can. After the session, we got some pictures, grabbed a bagged lunch, and then started the trip back up to Taos.

Thursday, it felt nice to be back to a normal day of missionary work after the last few days. We spent the day up in a little middle-of-nowhere town called Questa. It was pretty good because we were able to visit some people Elder Shawcroft and I had never met. It was bad because we almost got stuck in the mud from all the snow melting. Thankful we didn't get stuck and the road looks worse than our truck does.

Friday, we had our zone council meeting to set our monthly goals. I actually took notes during this one so I hopefully will remember them this time. Other than that, the day was mostly just a bunch of tracting.

Saturday started off pretty rough with Elder Shawcroft getting a migraine so we had to take a couple of hours to let him recover from that. While he was down, we spent some time inviting a bunch of people to church for Easter.

Sunday, we had the Easter program at church and had some really good talks, with one of them being given by the Spanish Patriarch who lives in our ward. Afterwards, we headed to a part of our area called Angel Fire to have lunch with our ward mission leader. The snow out there was so high that the stop signs were almost completely covered.

This week's spiritual thought comes from Mosiah 4:30, which says, "But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish. And now, O man, remember, and perish not." Sometimes the only scriptures someone will read are your actions. If we are really trying to be representatives of Jesus Christ and to live as he did, we need to be able to control our actions, thoughts, and let our conversion to Christ change us for the better.
