Week 31

This week went by really quickly for a couple of different reasons. But the highlight was probably that I still have not escaped the transfer site, and this time it wasn't to help someone else move.

MONDAY we had the last p-day of the transfer, so we went and hung out with our district leader because it was his last p-day before he went home. It was pretty fun, and we realized while we were playing billiards that he and I had never actually gone on an exchange together. We were both a bit disappointed about that, but what can you do? At zone p-day, most people just ended up playing a lot of board games because they were changing out the lights in the gym. Elder Stanger wasn't too happy with that, but they were able to play some half-court basketball and then get some pizza for free because a sister was going home.

TUESDAY I was still kinda sick, so after a bit of tracting, we took a quick break and then got back to finding. Don't get sick; it sucks.

WEDNESDAY we had a lot of lessons while out tracting, and we even got to share the Book of Mormon with a guy selling solar and give him a copy of it. So far, I've had 2 lessons with solar guys and a lesson with a guy selling security cameras, so now I just need to talk to a guy selling pest control. We also had our transfer news call, and I've got a ticket straight to Taos, the very top of our mission.

THURSDAY I took some time to go around and say goodbye to a bunch of members and some of the people we've been teaching. I was a bit sad to be leaving since it was such a good area, but I might be back one day. I also made a video about how we use social media in missionary work for my home ward, which worked out really well because we had a mission-wide devotional on how we use social media the day before.

FRIDAY we said goodbye to a bunch more people and signed everyone's transfer journals at zone council. I'm sad to leave them just as I'm getting to know them, but we'll see each other again one day, and now I've got new people to meet. While visiting someone we have been teaching for a while, we were actually able to set them on a date for baptism! The spirit was really strong while we were there, and you could just tell this was something she was excited for. That night I finished packing and then did a tie trade with Elder Stanger.

SATURDAY we had transfers and I met my new companion, Elder Shawcroft. After we spent some time saying all our hellos and goodbyes, Shawcroft and I started off to our area. Taos is the very top area in our mission (it is actually the border between our mission and the Colorado, Colorado Springs mission), so we spent 2 and a half hours just driving to get there. I was very tired that night.

SUNDAY we had stake conference in Santa Fe, so we had even more driving ahead of us. An hour and a half later, we took some time to walk around the stake building and meet some of the members in our ward who were there. Stake Conference focused a lot on how having a goal in mind gives us the strength to overcome our challenges as we rely on Christ. It was pretty great.

My spiritual thought this week comes from 2 Nephi 26:8-9. It says, "8 But behold, the righteous that hearken unto the words of the prophets, and destroy them not, but look forward unto Christ with steadfastness for the signs which are given, notwithstanding all persecution—behold, they are they which shall not perish. 9 But the Son of Righteousness shall appear unto them; and he shall heal them, and they shall have peace with him..." Having faith in the words of the living prophets allows us to see and feel the love of Christ. Because of God's love for us, He has given us a way to hear His voice and feel His love, which lets us make it through life and receive healing from Christ.
