Week 27

This week, the weather was a bit all over the place, but I'm just happy we got a bit of rain and that it's finally starting to warm up a bit. I really can't stand the cold and dryness at the same time out here.

On MONDAY, we were running around a bit in the morning because we had a lot of plans. We started off by going golfing with some members, which is when I realized just how bad I am at golf. I might not be any good, but I was still able to have some fun and learn a bit about golf. After that, we headed to get Elder Stanger's hair cut so he could be looking nice when he goes home in a couple of months. Once we finally got to zone p-day, we had a bunch of fun with basketball, chair soccer, and other board games.

TUESDAY, we had some more work getting Elder Stanger prepared for home. We had to take him to the dentist so he could get the permanent retainer he has on his teeth cleaned because he hasn't had it cleaned in over a year and was pretty bad at flossing it. The rest of the day was pretty busy with us doing some service, weekly planning, studies, and a couple of lessons too.

On WEDNESDAY, we had interviews with the President, which is something that I really enjoy. At first, interviews are pretty intimidating, but after a couple of transfers, they are something that I really look forward to because I'm able to get some really good counsel and advice from the President. I was pretty sore at the end of the day because I had started a workout plan Elder Stanger made for me, and we did some service helping some move out of their apartment on the third floor to the first floor.

THURSDAY, we got back to the tracking grind and went for a 2-hour walk from our apartment to a bunch of different neighborhoods in our area. While we were walking, it actually started to get pretty warm out to the point we dropped our jackets off with some members we passed by. I'm grateful for the change in weather; I'm just too tired of the cold.

FRIDAY, our zone leaders had gone on exchanges with the APs so I got to know the one that came to our apartment a bit better and learned a bit about what being an AP is like. Zone council that day was pretty funny because it started off with a Facebook training where we blindfolded the zone leaders and made them walk around an obstacle course to find each other.

SATURDAY was pretty miserable to be out walking in just because of how windy it was. Whenever we were inside our apartment, it literally sounded like screaming outside because of the wind. Something I never expected to happen on my mission also happened Saturday evening. Earlier in the week, a member had let Elder Stanger use their Amazon account to buy some shoes with a gift card he was given and told us that he'd gotten them today and that we could come get them at the church. When we got to the church, it turns out that they were having a wedding there and they invited us to come and get some food. It was pretty cool being able to see something like that on the mission.

SUNDAY was fast Sunday, so during sacrament, we heard some really amazing testimonies. I honestly think that some of the best ones come from the youth because they are always so sincere.

In 2 Nephi chapter 2, verse 11, it says, "For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility." This just reminds that every hard time, every bad day, and every cruel action of someone else is there so that good can be. It's hard to see the silver lining or the light at the end of the tunnel sometimes, but there are always blessings to come for the righteous in God's plan.
