Week 21
As I've gotten closer and closer to Christmas day, I feel like I'm getting a stronger appreciation for the Savior and his life. The excitement for Christmas day is really strong in my apartment right now because this is the last one for three of the four missionaries here before they go home.
MONDAY was a pretty fun day for the zone because at P-day, we did a big white elephant game with everyone. None of the gifts were too crazy, but everyone had fun and got something. For dinner that day, we headed over to a member's house for a Christmas party they were doing and got to talk with everyone there. We headed out a bit early from that so we could have a lesson with a less active member who has been wanting to come back to church more. It was really cool to see the spirit working on him and talking with him about the Native American beliefs.
TUESDAY was a day I had been looking forward to for a while because I was getting one of my favorite foods for dinner! One of the foods I've grown up eating is a Korean dish called bulgogi, and it's always been a favorite. I wasn't expecting to get it on the mission, so I was really looking forward to dinner that night. Other than that, the day was mostly just a lot of finding and visiting so we could share Christmas messages.
WEDNESDAY we had interviews with our mission president, which is always exciting but also scary sometimes because you don't know what he's going to ask you about. It was a pretty good time, and he gave a lot of advice about how to have emotional resilience around the holidays. While we were there, we got to meet the new senior missionaries and also say goodbye to one of the APs that was going home.
THURSDAY we went tracting with one of the youth and talked with them about how their sibling was doing on their mission. It's interesting to hear how different missions do things differently. We also saw the mystery machine on the way to dinner, which made me wish I had my camera out.
FRIDAY I went on exchanges and don't remember too much other than just walking around a bunch of apartment buildings in the rain, just trying to talk to people.
SATURDAY our mission president let us go shopping because all the stores would be closed Monday, and it was super packed with last-minute Christmas shoppers. Later on, after some tracting in the rain, we went to dinner and got given some Christmas stockings from some members, which was really kind of them.
SUNDAY we spent a lot of the day just visiting with people and sharing Christmas messages. This is such a great time of year because everyone is happy to hear about Christ. In the evening, we got to talk to our families a bit, and I even got to see some of the lights around my neighborhood back home, which was pretty cool.
I'm pretty excited for my first Christmas on the mission and my first New Year's too. It's been going by a lot quicker than I thought it was. Merry CHRISTmas and a happy new year to everyone!
