Week 19

This week was transfer week, and it's goodbye to Elder Holbrook. I've officially gone 4 for 4 with transfers and getting a new companion each time.

MONDAY, everyone knew that transfers were coming, and the missionaries waiting on Visas would be going to their original assignments Thursday, so everyone spent a lot of time bringing their transfer journals around and having people sign them. It's sad to see them all leaving, but I know that they will all be diligent missionaries, and that the Lord will bless them for their efforts in their called areas.

TUESDAY was a bit of an interesting day because stuff we weren't expecting just kept popping up. While we were out tracting, we knocked on the door of some very enthusiastic Jehovah's Witnesses. It was interesting to see how their beliefs really do have some truth but are missing some of the fundamental principles of the gospel. As we were talking with them, we were starting to run out of time, so we testified of the truthfulness of the restored gospel and then headed out, but you could tell that they felt the spirit as we spoke with them. After that, we were about to start tracting another area when we got a call from a less active member asking us to come help set up lights. It was a bit odd to just do randomly in the day, but I'm glad we were able to help them out.

WEDNESDAY was mostly a normal day with a decent amount of tracting and talking with people. At the end of the day came the exciting part of getting transfer news. To both mine and Elder Holbrook's surprise, he was getting transferred to the Alamo reservation, and I am getting a new companion, Elder Ty Stanger. It's sad to see him go, but he'll have fun on the reservation.

THURSDAY we spent a lot of time while we were tracting talking about the area he was going to. A lot of the afternoon and evening were spent just visiting with members so Elder Holbrook could say goodbye and share his testimony with them for the last time.

FRIDAY was a lot of the same as Monday and Thursday, just saying goodbye to a lot of people.

SATURDAY was a long day with little work. We started off the day early with heading to the transfer site to meet our new companions and head to our new area. After I met up with Elder Stanger, and we went back to the apartment, we did studies, and then we were right back out to the stake's nativity activity so we could supervise. Then after that, we headed to dinner and then the ward Christmas party. It was a fun day, but it felt very weird not doing any finding in person.

SUNDAY was a lot of just introducing Elder Stanger to people at church and having lessons with our friends. The lessons went really well with us talking about the sacrament with one and the plan of salvation.

My spiritual thought this week comes from Ether chapter 12, verse 4, which says, "4 Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God." Having faith in Christ is the strongest foundation you can have in life, and when you allow it to take hold in your life, you can overcome all trials.
