Week-4
Another week done and a lot of miles over the limit. Due to the size of our area and how often we've had to go into town, we are now 400 miles over for the month. But apparently, that's not even the most they've gone over recently. The month before I arrived, they apparently were 800 miles over the limit. There's a lot of driving in this mission. Monday was a good day that started with us going shopping for food for the week and then going into town to spend some time with the other missionaries in the zone. After that, we took some time and went out to talk to some people and had a great experience with one of the individuals we talked with. They felt the spirit and invited us to come back another day to talk more. The next day, we began a new Facebook challenge to see who could get the most lessons with people they meet through Facebook. Hopefully, it sees good results so that we can find some more people more easily. Other than that, it was a fairly uneventful day with us just going around and talking with a couple of people. At the end of the day, we did a zoom call with everyone in our mission zone where they asked me to talk about why I came on a mission, which was cool. Wednesday wasn't the most interesting day with us spending most of it tract-ing. We actually knocked on all the doors in a neighborhood with not a single person being home. It was a really weird feeling like it was a ghost town or something. Thursday we had interviews with our mission president where I got some really good advice for tract-ing and searching for people to teach. After that, I was full of the spirit and excited for the lessons we had that day. We taught the gospel of Jesus Christ and then taught about leadership in the church. Friday we went into town again for District council where we talked about how we can better use Facebook in our searches and about some of the restored truths of the gospel, which was nice. After that, we had service where we were moving a bunch of furniture out of a house that had been burnt pretty badly. Saturday was a bunch of us being in the right place at the right time which let us be able to talk with a bunch of people and answer a lot of their questions about the gospel and the Book of Mormon. Finally, at the end of the week, we went to church and talked with some of the people there on who we should visit and check in on. After church, we had dinner with some of the members where we gave a lesson on following the prophet, which went well. Then we had a couple more lessons and ended off the week well. It was a pretty great week with a lot of lessons, dinners, and driving. The spiritual thought I'd like to share this week is a quote from M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his talk "Watch Ye Therefore, and Pray Always," from the October 2020 general conference. He says, "I think often of those of you who are suffering, worried, afraid, or feeling alone. I assure each one of you that the Lord knows you, that He is aware of your concern and anguish, and that He loves you—intimately, personally, deeply, and forever." When we are suffering from sickness, fear, pain, and all other kinds of issues, we are not going through them alone. We have the Savior with us, and he is supporting us and giving us the strength we need to overcome these trials. He does this because he loves us deeply, and I know that he will continue to do so for the rest of our lives and even after this life.
