Week-3

I think I'm starting to get the hang of this now. Mission life was a bit confusing to start off with, but now that I've been living it for a couple of weeks, I've got a hang of the schedule. The hardest part of adjusting has been just not being able to cook food whenever I want. It's a small thing, but I was so used to cooking for myself whenever I wanted that it's strange to not be able to do that. But overall, it was a quick week with not too much happening other than lessons and door knocking. Monday was a pretty fun P-day that started with us going shopping for necessities and other things. After that, we went to a chapel that was pretty central to all of the companionships in the zone and played basketball for a while before going bowling where I lost both games. After Monday, most of the week blended together with the only part that stood out being going on exchanges Thursday. That was interesting because I went from an area that was mostly spread out to an area that was a very compact neighborhood. While I was in that area, I also learned that I can't smell skunk. I learned this when we went to a member's house, and he told us that his dog had caught a pair of skunks the other day. Friday was District Council where we discussed how all of our areas were going and also our goals for the week. We also decided to set up a kind of competition between the taller companions and the shorter ones. The competition is to see which group could get more lessons with investigators they meet on Facebook. The goal is to show the zone that using Facebook to bring others unto Christ is possible. Saturday was another average day with the only difference really being that we went out and helped a family take care of some scrap wood by their house. Sunday was a day where we spent a lot of time at the church. We were there for around 5 hours because of meetings and attending both wards' first and second hours. After that, we went to lunch and had mission coordination with one of our ward mission leaders, which went well. At the end of our day, we went and visited some of the members that hadn't been to church in a while to see how they were doing and to try to offer our help with anything they were working on. It was a fast week that showed me a bit of what the mission will be like when I'm done with the greenie period and what to expect for the next two years. I'm happy to be serving the Lord and working to bring others unto Him. And my thought for this week is something that stuck out to me while I was studying, and it is, "The central purpose of all scripture is to fill our souls with faith in God the Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ—faith that They exist; faith in the Father’s plan for our immortality and eternal life; faith in the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which animates this plan of happiness; faith to make the gospel of Jesus Christ our way of life; and faith to come to know ‘the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom [He has] sent’ (John 17:3)” (D. Todd Christofferson). This just stuck out to me and really clarified to me the purpose of reading the scriptures. I'm getting more and more excited about serving as the time goes on.
