MTC Week 1

This week was a special one, as it was the week I finally got to begin my in-person MTC training and when I finally met all of my district in person. Monday was my last day of online MTC, with our lesson being on how we can help investigators feel more comfortable talking with us. The next day was spent just getting everything packed again and getting anything I was missing.

On Wednesday, I set off for the MTC, saying goodbye to my uncle Fred and aunt Corinne and thanking them for letting me do home MTC at their house. When I got to the MTC garage and started unloading my suitcases, I called my family so I could say goodbye to them and my grandparents before leaving with another missionary. Once I got all of the stuff the workers needed to give me, I went to my residence room and started unpacking while waiting for my companion, Elder Magnusson, to show up.

When the rest of my district showed up, we all went and met with our teachers, and then attended meetings and devotionals for the rest of the day. On Thursday, we started to attend classes and got to know the area and buildings pretty well. It was also the day we met with President Garns, our new branch president, for the first time in person and the day we were able to go and do baptisms at the Provo City Center Temple.

Friday, there were more classes, with us doing a couple of Book of Mormon reads and roleplaying how we would teach a lesson to an investigator. A bit before classes, we were able to go to the Provo Temple to do more temple work. Later in the day, we attended a workshop on how we can use the Book of Mormon in conversions, which was really cool as it was going to be the last time this workshop was taught. We then ended the day with some gym time, playing a lot of basketball and volleyball.

Saturday was more classes and more gym time, with not much else. Sunday was a long day with us attending church, a two-hour-long personal study, and then an amazing district devotional. Overall, it was an amazing week, and I'm so excited to serve the Lord on a mission and am so happy I'm able to prepare myself here at the MTC.
