Week 34

Another week of tracting in the cold and driving for hours on end finished! I'm very thankful for the fact that our mission president is understanding about miles because there is absolutely no way for us to not go over on the limit. MONDAY we had some p-day activities here in Taos with the district. It was pretty nice for Elder Shawcroft and me because it let us save some miles and not spend half the day driving. We spent most of the time just walking around the Taos plaza and going to some thrift stores. The plaza is a pretty unique place with a bunch of random stores, so it was fun seeing what everyone wanted to check out. At the end of the day, we had to drive an hour down to EspaƱola so we could stay in their apartment for the night because we had zone conference the next morning and wanted to shorten the drive a bit. TUESDAY I woke up pretty tired because I didn't get the best sleep, but we all got up and got ready to head to Albuquerque. We had a 2-hour drive down so I e...

Week 33

This week involved a lot of driving because we had several zone and mission events in Santa Fe. At least it gave us plenty of time to listen to general conference talks and music. Monday, we headed down to Santa Fe for the first zone P-day of the transfer. The drive was about an hour and a half, so I took the time to talk with family, write my weekly email, and get to know Elder Shawcroft a bit more. We got to hang out and play some basketball and volleyball with the zone, which was pretty fun because I'm actually getting a bit better at them. We left early because we had to make the drive back up to Taos, but I was able to use more of the drive time to talk with my dad about some doctrinal questions he had thought of. Tuesday, we got a lot of media referrals out of the blue, which was surprising to me because of how many we were getting. Now, we just have to wait and see if they are actually interested. I also got to give a blessing to the bishop of the Taos ward's wife becaus...

Week 32

Well, I've got a full week in the new area now, and it's pretty interesting. It's also really cold, which I'm not too happy about. There are mornings when we go out to the car and find our water bottles frozen. On MONDAY, the new district all went bowling together so we could hang out and get to know each other. Most everyone is still from Utah, but that's pretty normal no matter where you go. After that, we went to one of the nearby chapels and played some board games for the last bit of p-day. Dinner that night was kind of crazy because there were so many people there, and I didn't know any of them yet. On TUESDAY, we got up early to go and help out with seminary. It was definitely different from what I'd seen before because there were only 6 people there. I feel like the wards I'm serving in just keep getting smaller and smaller, but at least I'll learn all their names quickly. This day also got me used to the finding because we went knocking on d...

Week 31

This week went by really quickly for a couple of different reasons. But the highlight was probably that I still have not escaped the transfer site, and this time it wasn't to help someone else move. MONDAY we had the last p-day of the transfer, so we went and hung out with our district leader because it was his last p-day before he went home. It was pretty fun, and we realized while we were playing billiards that he and I had never actually gone on an exchange together. We were both a bit disappointed about that, but what can you do? At zone p-day, most people just ended up playing a lot of board games because they were changing out the lights in the gym. Elder Stanger wasn't too happy with that, but they were able to play some half-court basketball and then get some pizza for free because a sister was going home. TUESDAY I was still kinda sick, so after a bit of tracting, we took a quick break and then got back to finding. Don't get sick; it sucks. WEDNESDAY we had a lot o...
