Week 30

This week was tough because our apartment kept trading who was sick. Being sick sucks as a missionary. MONDAY I took some time and emailed a couple of the other people from home who are on missions. It's pretty cool seeing what it's like in other missions and how they do things in other states. I also managed to lose at every board game and sport we did at zone p-day somehow. At least it was fun. TUESDAY the trend of missionaries in our apartment getting sick started with one of our zone leaders getting a cold. Other than that, the day was pretty average with the funniest thing being some members being very vocal at dinner about how much they hate Boise State and its blue football field. Elder Stanger and I also got asked to give talks on Sunday. WEDNESDAY we tried and failed to get a couch some members were throwing away into our apartment. It was pretty disappointing because we got it all the way to the apartment and in the door, but we couldn't get it up the stairs. Afte...

Week 29

This week was a really exciting one for me because I had my first baptism! Being able to be a part of someone making their first covenant with God is such an amazing thing to do. On Monday, I spent a lot of time at zone P-day playing a new board game I picked up at the store. It was pretty fun, but it took way too long to figure out all the rules. At dinner that night, we ate with a family whose son was just finishing up with at-home MTC and would be going to the MTC in Provo in a couple of days. It was fun talking about our mission experiences with them and just trying to give them some advice. That night during the family home evening call with our whole mission, they announced when the next mission-wide temple trips will be happening and my zone will be going towards the end of March. Tuesday was a pretty average day, but I'm thankful for that after all the changes to the last week's routine. Wednesday, we spent a lot of our finding time just visiting people who had talked t...

Week 28

This week had a lot of stuff happen, so we didn't end up finding too many new people to teach, but the Lord is preparing people for us always. MONDAY, we went bowling with the district, and it was really fun. I'm not very good at bowling or the game of pool they let us play while we waited, but I still found a way to enjoy myself. I also got my workout for the day by helping to push a car that died off the road and into the church parking lot. It's kinda scary that a car can just do that, but I'm glad we were there to help. Because of the new combining of the proselytizing and service missions, we got to hear a really amazing departing testimony from a service missionary whose time on the mission was up. It's really cool just seeing how their love of Christ is so strong no matter their circumstances. TUESDAY, we had zone conference, and it was a really good one. In our mission, we have a saying called, "we sell Coke." I didn't really know what that mea...

Week 27

This week, the weather was a bit all over the place, but I'm just happy we got a bit of rain and that it's finally starting to warm up a bit. I really can't stand the cold and dryness at the same time out here. On MONDAY, we were running around a bit in the morning because we had a lot of plans. We started off by going golfing with some members, which is when I realized just how bad I am at golf. I might not be any good, but I was still able to have some fun and learn a bit about golf. After that, we headed to get Elder Stanger's hair cut so he could be looking nice when he goes home in a couple of months. Once we finally got to zone p-day, we had a bunch of fun with basketball, chair soccer, and other board games. TUESDAY, we had some more work getting Elder Stanger prepared for home. We had to take him to the dentist so he could get the permanent retainer he has on his teeth cleaned because he hasn't had it cleaned in over a year and was pretty bad at flossing it....
